This Quick Draw is part of my draw a dog/critter a dog contest on Facebook with all proceeds going to Airedale Rescue Charities. Find Sandra Mewin Art on Facebook and join in the fun. Your name may be drawn. Here is how it works:

I'm going to create/draw "A Dale A Day" (Really it can be other dogs too) But I want to create a little drawing every work day and see how long it goes. So here's the way it will work, if you want your 'Dale or dog drawn just post your name on my Facebook page with your permission. "Sandra, you have permission to draw my dog from a photo you use from my FB photos."

I have to have this permission or I can't draw your dog. I never, never use anyone's photos without their permission. I'll pick a photo and do a quick draw and post it every day - all the drawing will be for sale at my blog for $25.00 (the owner of the dog gets first choice) - $5.00 is for postage. $20.00 will go to Airedale charities. Who wants to play?

This Welshie Welsh Terrier painting is created with a mixed media technique that give a real sense of the curly thick fur that doesn't shed. I've had a Welsh Terrier for over 20 years. Each of my three Welshies had totally unique personalities. Welsh Terriers are not for everyone. Welsh Terriers are very intelligent and independent. They aren't the highest ranking dog on the intelligence tests because they are too independent to want to please the tester. If you are interested in commissioning a painting, please email me.

Turquoise, blue, green, orange and burnt sienna are the colors that appear in this charming Airedale painting that tells a story.
I love works of art that create a story for the viewer. So far I've had patrons tell me that the older wiser 'Dale is helping the young pup, that this is a 'Dale and a Welsh who are connected to each other, that the younger dog is shy and the larger dog is protecting him.... what do you see?
The painting is very unique with thick paint and the inner images are created sgraffito - an Italian word that means to scratch. Sgraffito was very popular during the Renaissance.
